It is true that some people believe that visitors to foreign countries should follow local customs and behaviour, while others think that host countries should welcome cultural differences. But issues such as these are to be addressed by the host nations themselves as they are at the receiving end.The composition of their economy changes with the inflow of immigrants looking for a better chance at life.Immigrants bringing their culture is just part of the many problems host nations face.Let us see how.
Host nations have natives who consider other cultures as hostile, weird and different from their way of living, yet their governments take in immigrants after a strict screening process to attain skilled persons to better their economy.
When this happens , the visitor is introduced to a new nation which is completely different from his/her background.Learning to cope and adjust with the unfamiliar conditions is key to living in a new country. It helps when the visitor has learnt and absorbed the culture beforehand. This makes the transition from his/her original way of living to the foreign country’s ecosystem much easier.
On the other hand ,It is a popular notion that diversity makes a country richer. This pushes host nations to accept visitors as they are but teach their citizens about values of tolerance, harmony and unity.Majority of the conflicts that we see in the media is because of lack of awareness among both the natives and the visitors.Simple mis-understanding among people lead to un-necessary stand-offs between nations.
For a globalised world to take stand, governments should start spreading awareness and teach it’s citizens to live at peace with one another despite any differences let alone cultural ones. When this happens we can see free-flow of ideas and respect of each others identity.A world focused on development and sustenance than on trivial issues of differences in culture.

  1. Indeed an awakening for every federal governance to make their people aware about cultural differences and with due respect towards them should prevail…a pleasure to read.
