Some people think that an atmosphere of competition among children should be encouraged while others of the opinion that children who are taught to cooperate rather than compete become more fruitful adults.
Let us look at the result of a competitive study,
whenever children are given recognition based on their individual performance, there is a chance that students cannot perform to their true potential because the school system evaluating their respective work might not be effective enough. We can see this clearly when a student who excels in academics fail miserably during physical training. Then again it doesn’t matter as he/she can get promotion or higher studies based on academics alone while a pupil who proves in all other fields other than academics will find it difficult to even get sponsors to compete in his/her passionate field.
It is time that we teach in an atmosphere of cooperation which was absent from the time educational systems began. A system wherein each talent and effort is duly recognised and pooled into a common objective. This can bring a sense of unity among students which can end up in life long relationships
The sense of competition is at it’s peak and we can see it’s effects on several industries .Economic disparity of have and have nots is only because the society rewards the hard-working groups of specific professions rather too generously. For example a qualified accountant enjoys a higher paying a community setup which rewards accountants while it is the contrary in an agricultural community where the same qualified accountant is of no much relevance.
In conclusion,I believe that today’s educational system should start teaching aspects of cooperation for a better and aware individuals who are otherwise too busy building empires with their own skill and hard-work which is of no use to society but for his/her own satisfaction.
